But it’s 29 years old, written when the true internet era was still just a gleam in Al Gore’s eye. You could further argue that the passage predicted the Great Stagnation that Tyler Cowen identified in 2011, the productivity slowdown and disappointing economic growth that followed the initial 1990s-era internet boom. Writing for Quillette, he argues that globalization and homogenization have reduced cultural competition in roughly the way that the “Lost World” passage describes. It’s not just that we’re forgoing opportunities to improve our macro cultures. Shouldn’t we expect that macro cultures, when selection is weak, will drift into dysfunction just as firm cultures do?

CNN —Israel and Iran have now thrust the Middle East into a dangerous new era by erasing the taboo against overt military strikes on one another’s territory. Most immediately, the ball is in Iran’s court after Israel conducted strikes near the city of Isfahan early Friday. Initial reports suggest that the action was limited and, according to US officials, did not target Iranian nuclear sites in the area. Hours before the Israeli strikes, for instance, Iran had warned that any Israeli attack would be met with a robust response. “I do think it sends a message to Tehran that really they are more vulnerable to Israeli strikes than they would like to admit,” Davis said.

Larger wind turbines produce more power than standard ones, but the components are too big to be transported by road. Meet the WindRunner airplane, whose mission will be to deliver gigantic 300-foot-long blades directly to wind farms. So WindRunner will have a cargo bay volume of 272,000 cubic feet, enough to hold three Olympic swimming pools. That’s 12 times the volume of a Boeing 747-400 and – at 356 feet in length, it’s 127 feet longer too. Currently, turbine blades today are ordinarily 230 feet or less (70 meters), but Radia wants to deploy blades of up to 104 meters (341 feet).

But what really matters early in your career is learning 1) what you're naturally good at, and 2) what you most like and want to do. But in my experience, skills are not the most important things you should try to learn in your first few jobs. What you're naturally good atWe're all gifted at some things and lousy at others. India's economic prospects are shining bright, attracting global investors eager to capitalize on the country's immense growth potential. The International Monetary Fund expects India's real gross domestic product (GDP) to expand by 6.5% in 2024. However, tapping into these opportunities as a foreign investor is not as straightforward as buying shares listed on the Indian stock exchanges. This allows investors outside India to buy shares more easily. ADRs are a way for investors to own shares in a foreign company, with the shares themselves held by a U.S. bank.
